Community

Development

Building up the community around the orphan doesn’t just improve conditions, but allows the child to thrive! Life For Children Ministry has developed three ways to create that atmosphere

Micro-Finance

This idea came to fruition in 2013 and has taken off to new levels since then. Loans are provided to womens’ groups and individuals to create and run their own small business. With accountability and group support, business owners are empowered to provide for their families to help achieve financial stability.

Street Kids

The Street Kids Ministry is dedicated to feeding boys living in the streets and landfills of Kisumu. These kids have to scrounge for recycling items or steal to meet the most basic of needs. Every Sunday, food is distributed for their bodies with the hope of Christ for their souls. There is also an effort to offer transportation to those who can go back home and be reunited with their families. For $15 per month you can provide a weekly meal for one street kid. You can also support the entire program for one month for $310. This program has been well received with many hearing the Gospel of Christ for the first time.

Education

The key to better opportunity for each orphan is what they can learn to give back to support others. Life For Children Ministry has been foundational in keeping this idea close in support. In the very beginning, a school concept was developed, land was bought and classrooms were constructed to serve a remote village. Today those classrooms have progressed into a dormitory, library and most recently a gathering hall. It is because of this strong commitment some orphans have gone on to college and graduate as a doctor, mathematician and engineer. Please consider to join us and help take part in preparing a child for the tomorrow that they face.
