A Day of Excitement!      VBS - Day 1

VBS - Day 1, Wachara, Kenya very early in the morning.  Before light.

The morning light is barely breaking.  A faint reddish light appears in the eastern sky.  A couple of people have flashlights.  Many small faces barely visible begin to gather from different parts of this small rural village.  Finally fifty-plus LCM Orphans gather to take an exciting bus trip to the big city for a three-day Vacation Bible School. Last December this trip was great fun just being children and learning more about their savior, Jesus Christ.  They made some dear friends with other orphans in Kisumu.  The newer children who have not made this trip before are even more excited because a few of them have never even seen a bus, much less taken a trip on one. They finally board the bus and begin their 5-hour trip across some very rough roads.  Singing is one of the wonderful activities they enjoy and it is a great way to pass time on the road.  Some of the children who have not ridden in a vehicle just look out the windows at the passing landscape.

VBS - Day 1, Kisumu, Kenya later that day.

The Kisumu group of LCM orphans gather at the Vacation Bible School headquarters to meet the busload of kids coming from Wachara.  They are excited to see them again after the December VBS in which many became friends.

The bus finally arrives and the children unload and mix with the Kisumu children.  This is a big group, almost 150 kids.  Boys and Girls excited about the next three days.

The group met some old friends in the Team Members from America and some new ones too.  The VBS was more like a three-day camp with the children housed and fed at a high school facility in Kisumu.  All attendees are given a new LCM VBS t-shirt and each new orphan is given a new Bible.  Many activities will fill the days for the LCM orphans, including some well-needed free time. For many of the children, this will be a vacation from their normal days filled with searching for firewood and hauling water. For the children from Wachara, especially the new ones, it is the first time they have seen running water from a faucet or shower head, first time to sleep on a mattress on a bed, first time to sit on a chair at a table and eat with plates, cups and utensils, their first shower with a bar of soap, and their first inside toilet with a flusher, running water and bathroom tissue. Three meals a day plus afternoon tea was a rarity for each of them. The Team Members in the VBS will be blessed each day by the warm smiles and wonderful music of the precious children.  Team Members will take home to America many wonderful moments, lasting pictures in their minds that may just change their lives.  At the end of three days it will be very hard to say good-bye, but the Team Members will depart knowing that many of the orphans had experienced the love of Christ and returned to their homes with a brighter hope for the future for themselves, their families and their communities.

Bring your Blessings to these children!

Supporter,

Greetings from Kenya Beloved.

A few days ago I was in Kenya, the summer is just starting and it is getting hot. Just the right time for tourist to start visiting some of the greatest game parks in the world, found on this land. While the tourist come to enjoy the wonders and the creation of God in Kenya, almost 60% of the population has not visited those parks, because they can't afford.  Poverty is still very evident and there is a scarcity of maize (corn).  Produce from farms is not reliable anymore because the drought that has also killed so many livestock.  Inflation is at highest point ever and HIV/AIDS is still ravaging families and more children are being left parentless.   Homeless.

Life for Children Ministry is growing and we will soon announce more children added to the program. We are blessed by people like you who have been affected by the economic downturn and yet have not given up on their generosity for the glory of God. We could not have done this without your prayers and financial support.  I'm so happy to be part of this great endeavor giving life and hope again to orphans.

How about these words of Paul to you who have been faithful to this ministry:

2 Corinthians 9:11-12
"You will be made rich every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.  This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God's people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God".

Be blessed and thank you for being faithful to the needs of this ministry.

We love you and we pray for you.

Be Blessed.

In His name,
