2008 LCM Charity Dinner & Auction
 . . . . A Great Celebration!

2008 Auction Super Choir

Dear Supporters:

It is with great celebration and joy that I can report to you the results of the 2008 Charity Dinner and Silent Auction fund raiser benefiting the Life For Children Ministry. With only a few outstanding receipts to process, the event raised just over $9,000.00 in cash. And with Faith Promises totaling $12,000.00, a grand total of $21,000.00 was realized. This will go a long way toward our goal of reaching 200 orphans under LCM support by year-end. The presentations by the Atlanta Super Choir and Dick McClain of The Mission Society were over the top. As Dick recited James 1:27..."Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the father, is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress".

The Ministry is deeply indebted to the many hands and hearts that made it possible. But I do want to recognize the hard work of Ron Griffith, Ben Willis and Bill Barbour.

The Ministry also wishes to express its deep appreciation to those who gave the many fine items, services, and facilities that were successfully auctioned. With out your generous participation and support, the evening would have been far less successful.

Also, I am pleased to announce that Ron and Bill are stepping up to again assist in next years program. Would you like to join them? If you hear the call, please contact one of them.

In His Name,

Michael Ouma Agwanda, Missionary

 Ministry's Report June 2008
 . . . . Onward & Upward

Child 2008 Life for Children Ministry has just celebrated their second anniversary with pomp, joy and glory to God for the great work they have managed to oversee in the last two years. The Ministry has realized their objective by supporting over 110 orphans to date. We have drilled two water wells in Wachara village (yet to be operational), and have organized three successful mission trips. We bought a trail bike, a four wheel truck, and have fed, clothed, schooled, and provided medical care and active religious training, bringing life and hope again to the orphans and vulnerable children of Kenya. Many lives have been changed and many have come to the saving knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

To our many friends, donors and partners, we do all these things as part of our ultimate goal, to Win souls to Christ. We owe all this great work to our prayer partners, donors and friends of the Ministry. You are our family and we shall always remember to intercede for you.

On April 14th, I returned to Kenya to visit the Life for Children Ministry operations. I was accompanied by Lauren and Jo Ann Helveston and Janice Colvin from The Mission Society, and Frances Osteen from St. Johns UMC Aiken, SC. We had a great time with the orphans and were blessed with many songs and dances for these guests. The nutrition distribution was done when we were their. We also took our visitors into the homes of many of our orphans while we were in the villages. No words can absolutely describe the experience they came back with after spending time in these remote areas. Frances is already organizing a short term mission trip with fellow church members later this year. Additionally we were blessed to pray for the Ministry's first four wheel truck that was acquired while we were there. Many, many thanks to our generous donors who made this vehicle a reality.

Friends, Kenya as a young nation recently faced a test of a life time. The country was torn apart following a rigged election and civil violence caused many to loose their lives and several hundred thousand still do not have homes that they can return too.

Because LCM was already established in the community as an operating Welfare Agency, registered with the government, LCM led an active role in supporting the internally displaced Persons (IDP'S) of this violence. We provided over 5,000 meals, prayed for these citizens, and were put in charge of all the children in the IDP Camp in Kisumu. Now, we want to give glory to God because, at this moment rebuilding has started and peace in Kenya has arrived. The opposition and the Government have agreed to run the government as a team. However, the cost of living is rapidly rising as you can imagine. We need your prayers in this area.

As most of you know, the Ministry has a vision of supporting 200 orphans by the end of this year. Friends, I really don't know what the lord is telling you as you read this newsletter, but one thing I know for sure, your every $1.00 makes a big difference.

Please don't let this opportunity pass by. Be counted as one of those who helped "...the least of these one of mine"...as the lord says. Give life and hope again by being a partner in this Ministry.

May God richly bless you as you stand with us.

Michael Ouma Agwanda, Missionary

Rotary Club Donates 9 Passenger Cargo Van
 . . . . Great News

Mike Henson, a member of the North DeKalb Rotary Club, released the following announcement in reference to LCM.

"With Matching Grants from both The Rotary Foundation and Rotary District 6900, and with assistance from the Northlake Rotary Club and the Rotary Club of Kisumu, Kenya, the North DeKalb Rotary Club is pleased to announce the forthcoming purchase of a 9 passenger cargo van and approximately 150 mosquito nets for the Life for Children Ministry in the Kisumu and Homa Bay District in the Nyanza Province of Kenya."

LCM has needed this type of vehicle to travel the rural roads in Kenya, especially during the rainy seasons. It will be used to visit orphans, take them for medical attention if needed, and make food deliveries.

We would like to thank Mike for his efforts and continued support of this ministry.
